I love Star Wars. I am acquiring a Star Wars language. I read Star Wars novels like there isn’t tomorrow. And I know more fantasy movie trivia facts then most people care to know.
I’m good at: baking, reading a book and getting the gist of what it is about.
I enjoy PC games, playing video games, duking it out with Airsofts, and movies about robots.
I dislike math, responsibility, and having to be serious. I also resent boring, or bad literature.
My favorite line here was about your animosity to the cartoon Dilbert. I laughed out loud at that. Your blog looks great and definitely reflects your love of Star Wars. Have you tried writing any fan fiction? This means fiction based on another author's characters/setting, but written by a fan, like yourself.
ReplyDeleteI am also a Star Wars fan! Probably a little different than yourself, but I think they are fantastic films. I like them because I want to be a movie director and I have a high respect for the way that the movies were done and delivered. There are also some great Star Wars video games out there. I agree with Sister Elliot about the Dilbert comment. I love those comics because they're so true in the business world. I have had multiple cubicle positions in companies and businesses, and those comics just make me laugh. Well written post, Jorgen!
ReplyDeleteStar Wars is amazing. One of my favorite things about physics is that it allows for the possibility of interstellar travel. There are configurations of space time that would create a warp-drive effect similar to Star Trek and the higher dimensions required by string theory are vaguely reminiscent to Star Wars' hyperspace. There's an nonprofit organization devoted to developing interstellar travel called the Tau Zero Foundation. I actually did research one summer with one of their projects: Project Icarus. You might find it interesting: http://www.tauzero.aero/
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting thing about star wars is it's value as an archetype. My mom's an author and I've dabbled a little bit in writing fantasy so I find it fascinating. It's a wonderful model of a hero's journey, one of the most common archetype in fantasy novels.
